Book Reviews

Reading. Can life get any better? I submit that it cannot. I love reading. Diving into a book and when you finally come up for air, you're a whole new person. Better somehow. My mom always read to me and all my sibling while we were growing up. In fact, she still does. My mom created a book list for us a few years ago with different books for each age group.
This page is devoted to all the books I read. I wish I had more time to read, but, alas, college calls.

{She read books as one would breathe air, to fill up and live}

The Fault In Our Stars
John Green
Can I just say, wow. This book is incredible. The love story that John Green is able to capture between two sixteen year old kids with cancer is beautiful. Have you ever read a book that either had a really great plot but was written poorly or had a boring plot but was written well? This book exceeds both those let downs and is not only an intriguing, can't-set-this-book-down-story but also has great writing. Sometime you just have to stop and think, is this author a poet? A few of the lines are just, beautiful. Let me demonstrate.
"As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once."
I had never heard love described in that way and I can't think of a better way. It's not just these few quotes that are wonderful, overall the book is written so well that you just can't stop reading. You practically have to finish it one sitting. If not one sitting, at least one day. My second favorite quote from this book is,
"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, ..., but you do have some say in who hurts you."
This sentence is followed by 2 other sentences that just make me want to cry, and do  make me cry, every time.
I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone; it's a must-read. And just to put the icing on the cake, the movie just came out and wonderful surprise! they didn't ruin it. So, go see it! But before you do, make sure you read the book. The love story is great in the movie, but there's something about a book you just can't replicate. So go read it; and fall in the love with the characters as you watch them fall in love with
each other.

The Maze Runner
James Dashner
So this is a cool idea for a book right? Some boys trapped in this world trying to map out the maze that surrounds them. I mean, I was intrigued. So the whole point of the book is these boys trying to find a way to escape the maze. But the thing is, they don't really escape. Like seriously James Dashner, pull yourself together and write a new ending. Instead these boys are all still trapped in the WICKED experiment. And worst of all (spoiler), why on Earth does Chuck have to die?? Literally. No. Reason. Don't get me wrong, it was a good book, I just wasn't too thrilled about how it ended.
It was worth reading though because now I can go see the movie when it comes out and not be a blood traitor who sees movies and doesn't read the book first. So that's always a good thing. Nobody likes a traitor. Who knows, maybe I'll read the other two books in the series eventually.
